Puma Basket II Soda Collection

As unhealthy as it might be, soda is something most people try during their lifetimes and come to enjoy to some extent. Therefore, it should come as no surprise, especially to sneakerheads, that certain shoe brands draw inspiration from the soft drink. Last Christmas we caught a glimpse of a Nike Lebron Soldier II inspired by the famous Sprite can colors. Now, Puma has chosen its Basket II silhouette as a means of running with the soda idea. Pictured here are four pairs of the Puma Basket II, one each representing the colors on cans of soda of Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Fanta, and A&W Root Beer. Puma Basket II – Soda Collection

Puma comes out with 4 new colorways for the Basket II, all of which part of a Soda series.  That’s right, Soda.  Some of you may be thinking “that ain’t street� or “that concept isn’t thorough enough.�  But some of the best ideas are the ones that are right in front of you and tend to be repeatedly overlooked.  Think about it.  Despite the current trends of going green, eating organic and being healthier, most of us grew up chugging down nothing but carbonated beverages.  Did you know that Coke is the second most recognized word in the planet?  That has to say something about how relevant soda is to pop culture.Thus these four Baskets.  All your basic leather uppers, the 4 colorways are carefully chosen to represent some of our classic childhood favorites.  Red for Coca-Cola, silver and red for Diet Coke, brown for Barq’s Root Beer and orange for Fanta orange soda.  Expect these to drop soon.  via KenluRead the rest of Puma Basket II – Soda Collection© Sneaker News, 2009. |Permalink |No comment |Add todel.icio.us close

Puma Basket II ‘Soda Pack’

Puma has recently updated their ‘Soda Pack’ which already included a few Puma First Round releases in August. The their most recent addition into this collection Puma choose the Basket II as the model of choice. The colorways of the sneakers are of course inspired by various sodas. Puma Basket II “Soda Pack�

Pop. Soda. Coke. No matter what you call them, the sugary carbonated beverages so many of us are addicted to have inspired all four pairs of Basket IIs in this pack from Puma. Coke Classic, Diet Coke, Fanta and Root Beer have all been given their own sneaker design.The Coke Classics and Diet Coke use alternating colorways, mixing red, white and silver leather over one another. The silver is used as a base for the Diets, while red is used for the arch. The Cokes get the opposite treatment, donning red with white. The Fanta pair is done up with orange leather while white and navy blue are used for accent. Finally, brown is used with hints of orange for the root beer pair, bringing the pack home. Puma Basket II Soda Collection

This past Summer, we saw the release of the Puma Soda Pack, which consisted of various vibrant colorways in the Puma First Round model. Well, Puma is a back at it, creating another Soda Pack, with the model of choice being the Puma Basket II. Shown here are four colors, each which represents a different can of soda including Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Fanta, and A&W Root Beer.
