words_Nick DePaulaAs the Los Angeles Lakers take on the Orlando Magic shortly for Game 4 of the 2009 NBA Finals, Kobe Bryant will be breaking out yet another colorway of the Nike Zoom Kobe IV. Featuring a similar text graphic pattern along the collar and toe vamp as the pair that Bryant wore in Game 1 of the Finals, this version features hits of black patent leather along the toe as well as gold and purple accents. The shoe sits atop a partially translucent purple outsole and features the speckled laces that we’ve come to expect from the Zoom Kobe IV. We saw this colorway of the Zoom Kobe IV appear a couple months back, but now we have word that has started to arrive at retailers like Millennium Shoes.The Nike Zoom Kobe IV Draft Day comes in the Charlotte Hornets team colors, yes, Kobe was drafted by the Hornets before being sent west to the Lakers. This makeup also features the date of his draft date on the heel. Nike Zoom Kobe IV ‘Draft Day’

The Nike Zoom Kobe IV ‘Draft Day’ which we caught a look at back in April has started to arrive at Nike retailers throughout the country.As we originally reported the Zoom Kobe IV uses a design which pays tribute to the Charlotte Horents who originally drafted Kobe Bryant out of High School in 1996. The shoes use a colorup of white, teal (blue) and purple which matches up perfectly with the uniforms that the Charlotte Horents use to wear. Nike Zoom Kobe IV “Draft Day�

The 2009 NBA Draft was a memorable night for players such as Blake Griffin, Ricky Rubio, Tyreke Evans and others; only time will tell who are the standouts of this draft year. However, Nike has just released the Zoom Kobe IV “Draft Day� in memory of Kobe Bryant’s 1996 draft year (see our History of the NBA Draft and Signature Sneakers).If you recall, the Charlotte Hornets drafted Kobe Bryant in 1996 and traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers for Vlade Divac (go figure). Therefore, this colorway is inspired by the Charlotte Hornets. It features a predominately white upper with teal accents on the toe cap, tongue, and heel. The latter area also features Bryant’s draft date, 6.11.96, in purple, imprinted numerals. Additional hints of purple appear on the swoosh and on the Kobe logo (tongue). Available now at Shoe Trends.
