Nike Sportswear X LIVESTRONG X Mist

The much anticipated launch of collaborative Air Force 1 between Nike Sportswear, LIVESTRONG and famed tattoo artist, Mister Cartoon, was held at midnight of Jul 3 at Mister Cartoon’s Los Angeles shop, The Last Laugh. Other than autographed t-shirts that were produced to match the shoes and raffle for the opportunity to purchase the new collaborative Air Force 1, free kicks were also given away. Gram and Paps supplied the party with some true American eats of roast beef and chicken salad sandwiches. Some other highlights of the event include Mister Cartoon’s ride on display at the store and also live tattoo sessions. Nike Sportswear x LIVESTRONG x Mist

The eagerly anticipated LIVESTRONG edition of the Mister Cartoon Air Force 1 finally dropped over the weekend, and although the kicks were released at a few spots, Cartoon’s The Last Laugh tattoo shop was the place to be. Aside from getting inked up, checking out some vintage cars outside or chowing down on roast beef sandwiches, there was also a collection of Mister Cartoon designed Nike’s on display and special t-shirts were made up to match the LIVESTRONG Air Force 1’s. Mister Cartoon was happy to sign shirts for everyone who bought one and eventually the raffle began to see what lucky attendees would get a chance to purchase a pair of the shoes. To the crowd’s delight, not only did the raffle winners get a pair of the kicks, but they were on the house, a charitable gesture right in line with the LIVESTRONG spirit. K-Swiss To Launch Skate Category

words_Nick DePaulaWhile the company has been struggling over the past few years to build a portfolio of relevant sneakers beyond the heralded Classic model, K-Swiss recently announced that they’ll be launching a new K-Swiss Skate category in 2010. Entering the crowded category even after 2009 might seem a bit on the late side, as it was the start of the millenium in which everyone got excited about Skate. As the trend continually took off throughout the decade, perhaps it’s better to start now than never?As most companies that have entered the category have done, K-Swiss plans to gather up a team of people rooted in the skate community who can help to work on getting the product right and putting together the right team of riders for the brand. Greg Lutzka, a title winning skater known for his technical style and a career that started to take off around 2003, has been named Creative Director of Skate at K-Swiss, and he’ll work along with the brand and management team to try and successfully launch the category.“Skate has always been a compelling category for us since it is truly native to California.
