Air Jordan 1 Retro “Ruff N Tuffâ€

words & images by Steve JaconettaIf you own a copy of Sole Collector Issue 27, then you might remember Gentry Humphy briefly mentioning these (if you don’t have a copy, get yours here). This colorway was made to celebrate the 2009 Quai 54 basketball tournament.Last year Jordan Brand released the “Wine & Grindâ€� which consisted of a Jordan Esterno and an AJF5. This year we have the “Ruff N Tuffâ€� which so far features an Air Jordan Retro 1, with a pair of the Jordan Elements to come. This Jordan 1 is in a nice laser blue/black/white colorway and is a UK exclusive release available now in men’s sizes only. Also, these are a mid cut and not highs.The upper of these feature a combination of cracked leather and croc-like pattern similar to the materials found on the Premium Jordan 1 Retro lows from 2007. Black paint splatter is found throughout the upper as well as on the  white midsole, and the black Swoosh on the sides is patent leather. Needless to say, this shoe features a wide variety of different materials and such throughout it. The tongue is white and features the Quai 54 logo on the tongue tag and the phrase “Ruff N Tuff” close

Only this time sans the patent leather. This original “IE� low colorway released alongside the other original colorway in May of 2003. Retail on these was $115 and they came with a new retro card, different from the card issued in the ‘00-’01 XI retro’s. Each card featured the colorway of the shoe it came with, so this one came with a card featuring this colorway on it as well as an updated timeline on the back. close
