As a rookie, the young prodigy was still trying to figure out how to fit in with his older teammates, how to balance the shift from Prom to the Pros, and oh yeah, he was kicking off his budding career with another brand, having signed a deal straight out of High School with adidas Basketball, masterminded by prep guru Sonny Vacarro. words & images_Nick DePaulaYesterday we brought you the new adidas Drop Top in white/black & black/black, and today we have a look at two more versions of the off-court hoops shoe that will begin releasing this August. In Medium Lead/Royal and Navy/Grey, these versions of the Drop Top take on more color and textures than yesterday’s more basic renditions. Made up of a semi-gloss synthetic rand, nubuck and faux croc skin, the Medium Lead version is set off by its white outsole and hits of royal blue. Along the Navy based version, you’ll find navy patent leather atop the two customizable midfoot straps, as well as a rich reptilian synthetic along the rand that encircles the entire shoe. words & images_Nick DePaulaThis summer, adidas plans to release their latest hoops shoe aimed at both lightweight performance as well as off-court style with the Drop Top. The Drop Top, seen here in white/black and black/black colorways, features two prominent straps along the midfoot that can be worn down, up or however you may please. The collar can be adjusted to your liking as well in the versatile Drop Top, as it continues the design direction that adidas Basketball has taken recently with less emphasis placed on striping up the midfoot.With a full herringbone outsole and EVA midsole, the Drop Top sits low with its double-lasted construction. Along the white based version you’ll find a combination of patent leather, synthetic leather and perforated leather with hits of black accenting, while the all black colorway features a mix of nubuck, semi-gloss leather and faux croc skin along the midfoot straps.
